What We Do
The SEWA Manager’s School is involved in many activities and the list is growing.
 
• Current Projects
 
» Trainings
 
Training comprises the main focus of the Manager’s School. SMS conducts Training of Trainer (TOT) sessions at head office level, district level trainings and offers its training services to other sister organizations of SEWA. The trainings SMS conducts fall under the following categories:

  1. General Capacity Building: deals primarily with introductory trainings for new members to SEWA, empowerment training and leadership skill development
  2. Management Capacity Building:  addresses financial and management-related training topics in order to build the organizational capacity of member run institutions
  3. Technical Training:  skill building training in technical areas with the goal of developing new member livelihood activities and improving efficiency and effectiveness of already existing livelihood activities
» Village Resource Centre
 
The Village Resource Centre (VRC) project aims to harness the reach of Information and Communication Technologies in order to bring the knowledge of experts in their fields to the most remote communities in Gujarat. The VRC project operates in collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and two-way satellite technology to connect SEWA members through local Community Learning Centres.
 
» Enterprise Development Initiative
 
The Manager’s School is beginning an innovative loan project that will operate in parallel to the unique management trainings being offered by the school. The loans are be managed entirely by trained District level and feature a moratorium period prior to the commencement of repayment. SMS is currently in the pilot phase of this project and will be expanding
 
• Upcoming Projects
 
» Rural Entrepreneurship Project
 
The Manager’s School will soon begin a mini-MBA project in collaboration with IL&FS. This project will train and equip rural SEWA members with the skills they need to successfully develop small businesses.
 
» Paramedical Project
 
The Manager’s School will also be embarking on a training program to create a cadre of rural Paramedics who upon completing training, will be able to be absorbed into the expanding Health Care industry.
